Marbled beauty

Winter aconites and snowdrops have faded, and orange and purple crocuses have begun blooming in our little garden here in Cambridge. My favourite things at the moment, though, are these:

Iris ‘Katharine Hodgkin’ – new to us, but a much-treasured classic for many. Glad they survived the gales of this week.
Iris ‘Katherine’s Gold’ – I loved these so much last year that I bought another bag of bulbs and planted them in a little bowl.

And a wonderful surprise when you lift up their heads to look at their faces:

Helleborus × hybridus Double Ellen Picotee.
Helleborus × hybridus Double Ellen Red.
